Joel Moskowitz / Mary Spencer Competition /Fragmentation

May 11-June 10, 2012
Reception, Saturday May 12, 5-7 pm
See images of artwork on display.

Joel Moskowitz and Mary Spencer share an affinity for an expressionist sometimes dark view of emotional life set in black and white, shades of gray and sparks of color.

Working with charcoal and ink on paper, Joel explores the theme of competition, depicting contestants striving, succeeding or failing, celebrating with a trophy or suffering defeat. Mary paints in oils on wooden panels, folding together fragments from cave drawing, news photos, architectural views and landscapes into a unified world of disparate parts.

Internal Combustion A CALL FOR ART

Fountain Street Fine Art’s 2012 Summer Open Juried Show.
Artists are invited to submit original work for this exhibit, to be held in the FSFA Gallery, 59 Fountain Street, Framingham MA 01702. The theme for this exhibit, INTERNAL COMBUSTION, celebrates our industrial roots and speaks to the transformative power of imagination. The juror, Joseph Carroll of Carroll and Sons Gallery in Boston has elected to make his selections based on actual work on site.

Joseph Carroll ran the Bernard Toale Gallery before taking it over in the summer of 2008 and reopening the space as Carroll and Sons that September. Prior to managing Bernard Toale Gallery for five years, Joseph worked for three years with Dan Elias at Elias Fine Art. Joseph holds an MA from New York University and a BFA from Miami University in Ohio. Carroll and Sons supports contemporary artists, and focuses on building the careers of lesser-known artists and promoting ones who are under recognized.
